Kuwait’s Interior Ministry has initiated a year-long security awareness campaign titled “Prevention and Safety” to coincide with the start of the new school year. The initiative was announced on Tuesday by Brigadier Nasser Buslaib, Director General of the General Department of Security Relations and Media.

The campaign aims to enhance public understanding of security issues and encourage preventive behaviors through a combination of media outreach and direct engagement with key groups, including students, parents, educators, and the broader community. It focuses on six principal areas: traffic safety, juvenile protection, drug prevention, cybersecurity, countering extremist ideologies and hate speech, and environmental awareness.

Efforts under the campaign will utilize a multi-platform approach incorporating print, broadcast, and digital media, alongside educational lectures, workshops, and in-person meetings. Specific objectives include promoting the use of seat belts, encouraging safe road-crossing practices, and informing the public about recent updates to traffic legislation.

In addition, the campaign will prioritize protecting children from violence and exploitation, aiming to raise awareness about these risks and preventive measures. Drug prevention efforts will target first-time use, seeking to reduce initial exposure and subsequent addiction risks.

Cybersecurity education will focus on safeguarding personal data and combating online threats, such as phishing scams, fraud, and blackmail attempts. The campaign also addresses the dangers linked to extremist ideas and hate speech, striving to foster social cohesion and resilience against such narratives.

Environmental protection constitutes another pillar of the campaign, underscoring the Ministry’s broader commitment to community welfare.

Through these comprehensive measures, the Interior Ministry intends to strengthen public safety and security awareness across various sectors of Kuwaiti society over the course of the coming year.
