The draw for the 19th Men’s International Handball Federation (IHF) Club World Championship is scheduled to take place on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt. The ceremony will determine the group-stage matchups for the 10 participating teams and will be streamed live on the IHF’s official YouTube channel, allowing fans worldwide to follow the process in real time.
The tournament is set to be held in Cairo from September 24 to October 1. This year’s lineup features clubs representing various continents and regions, including host club Al Ahly from Egypt, European champion Barcelona from Spain, and Asian champion Burgan from Kuwait. Other participants include Montada from Morocco, representing Africa; Füchse Berlin from Germany as a European representative; EC Pinheiros from Brazil representing South and Central America; San Diego from the United States for North America and the Caribbean; Sydney Uni from Australia as Oceania’s entrant; Veszprém from Hungary via invitation; and Zamalek of Egypt, which received a wild card entry.
The IHF has released the seeding pots and ranking positions for the clubs ahead of the draw, which will influence the course of their competition in this prestigious international event. The championship will showcase top club teams from around the globe competing for the world title in men’s handball.
In a related announcement, the Bahrain Handball Association confirmed that Manama will host the 42nd Gulf Clubs Handball Cup Winners’ Championship later this year. The event is scheduled to take place from November 19 to 28 and will feature leading handball clubs from the Gulf region competing for the title.
