Authorities have launched an investigation following an incident in which a three-year-old boy was allegedly thrown into a crocodile enclosure at a zoo in Norfolk, resulting in serious injuries. A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but was later released on bail after being deemed unfit for police interview.

The incident took place at Johnsons of Old Hurst zoo, where zoo staff intervened promptly by entering the enclosure to rescue the child. The boy remains in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.

The suspect, who reportedly has learning difficulties, was accompanied by carers on the day of the incident. Norfolk County Council, which confirmed it does not provide care services for the individual, said it has initiated an inquiry under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014 to review the circumstances surrounding the case and the care provided.

Police investigations are ongoing, with authorities continuing to assess the details and context of the event. No further information has been released regarding the motive or additional charges at this stage.
