The Union of Investment Companies (UIC) in Kuwait has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the investment sector’s role in the national economy through the implementation of its strategic plans. Speaking at the union’s 21st ordinary general assembly meeting and an extraordinary session held recently, UIC Chairman Abdullah Al-Terkait outlined the organization’s focus for the 2024-2027 period, emphasizing communication, cooperation, media engagement, development, and training.

Al-Terkait noted that the union’s strategy aims to strengthen its institutional presence and influence on issues impacting the investment sector while adapting to evolving economic conditions and financial market developments. During 2025, the UIC maintained regular engagement with key government ministries and regulatory bodies, including the Ministries of Commerce and Industry, Finance, and Justice, as well as entities such as the Capital Markets Authority, Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority, Boursa Kuwait, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Financial Intelligence Unit, and Competition Protection Agency.

These interactions provided a forum for the union to present proposals and recommendations on the business environment and financial market regulations. Al-Terkait stressed the necessity of institutional coordination and public-private sector cooperation to foster a sustainable and prosperous economy.

On the international front, the union worked to enhance ties with foreign embassies, diplomatic missions, and economic institutions through meetings, joint forums, and events. These efforts aimed to introduce member companies to regional and international investment opportunities, provide information on incentives, and facilitate communication and partnerships. Al-Terkait described these initiatives as key to expanding cooperation and positioning the UIC as a bridge between Kuwaiti investment firms and global economic entities.

The union’s Investment Studies Center conducted 109 training programs in 2025, including workshops, seminars, and lectures attended by over 1,700 participants. The curriculum covered diverse topics such as finance, investment, regulatory frameworks, financial technology, artificial intelligence, governance, and sustainability.

Additionally, the UIC continued to raise awareness of investment companies’ contributions through media activities, including its quarterly publication Al-Mustathmer. It also leveraged social media platforms to simplify financial concepts and disseminate updates on market developments. Collaborative seminars and events further aimed to enhance investment literacy among a wider audience.

During the ordinary general assembly, members reviewed the administrative and auditor’s reports, financial statements, and other agenda items for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2025. The extraordinary general assembly endorsed the appointment of Issa Al-Hasawi as a supplementary board member for the current term (2024-2027), reinforcing the board’s capacity to achieve the union’s strategic goals.

Al-Terkait highlighted the ongoing support from member companies as vital to the union’s progress. He reaffirmed the UIC’s dedication to leveraging its expertise and resources to support nationwide efforts in improving the business environment, enhancing the private sector’s economic role, and strengthening the investment sector in line with Kuwait’s New Kuwait 2035 vision.
