The Ipoh Sentral project is expected to generate around 10,000 job opportunities across various sectors once completed, state officials said. Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad highlighted that employment prospects will span construction, logistics, services, and trade.

Speaking during the Perak state assembly sitting at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan in Ipoh on Wednesday, Saarani noted that the project's construction phase, which began earlier this year with work on a public park, has already created between 8,000 and 9,000 jobs. These figures were provided in response to questions from M. Thulsi (PH-Buntong), who inquired about the project's potential impacts on her constituency.

Launched in 2025 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Ipoh Sentral development is planned to unfold over the next two decades. The initial phase includes the construction of a public park and a mosque scheduled for completion within two years. Following this, the project will enter a mixed-use development phase featuring serviced apartments, office spaces, retail outlets, and various community facilities.

Saarani emphasized the long-term benefits the project is expected to bring to Ipoh residents, particularly those in the Buntong area. He said the development will have a positive effect on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), improve transportation infrastructure, and boost land values in surrounding areas.

Regarding land ownership concerns, Saarani clarified that the site earmarked for Ipoh Sentral belongs to the Railway Asset Corporation (RAC), which has granted permission for its use in the project.
