Ipswich Town forward Julio Enciso has drawn inspiration from some of football’s most skilful attacking players as he seeks to elevate his game and impact for the Tractor Boys. The 22-year-old Paraguayan has made an immediate impression since his summer transfer from Strasbourg, scoring in two consecutive matches and demonstrating a playing style reminiscent of world-class No. 10s such as Ronaldinho, Neymar, and Eden Hazard.

Enciso’s recent performance at Hull City underscored his potential, as he netted a long-range curling shot from 30 yards to secure a point for Ipswich. Left-back Leif Davis highlighted the midfielder’s technical ability and composure, noting Enciso’s blend of flair and work rate. “He always has that magic in him. He gets you out of difficult situations with a great goal,” Davis said. “Julio will watch players who played in his position, who he feels are a similar type. You can see he’s a similar type to all of them— incredible with the ball at his feet and his work-rate is incredible.”

Davis, 26, who has been a teammate of Enciso since the Paraguayan’s brief loan spell at Ipswich during the 2025 season, praised both his character and talent. “Mentally he is strong because he knows he’s a good player, but he’s not big-headed,” he said. “He’s still learning but I know he will go to the top. Julio has everything.”

Enciso’s signing for Ipswich in the recent transfer window came at a reported fee of £26 million. His familiarity with current Ipswich manager Gary O’Neil, who previously coached him at Strasbourg, was cited as a positive factor in his decision to join. Davis also noted how the squad has been strengthened significantly since Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League three seasons prior. “We have strengthened the team so much since the last time,” he added.

As Ipswich look to improve their standing in the Championship, Enciso’s ability to combine technical skill with work ethic offers hope for the club’s ambitions. His reliance on studying elite players in his position and commitment to continuous improvement suggest a player determined to reach the upper echelons of the sport.
