The 27th Iran Health International Exhibition is set to take place from August 8 to 11 at the Tehran Permanent International Fairground, marking the country’s largest specialized event in the health industry. The exhibition will gather prominent companies and knowledge-based enterprises involved in medical, dental, and laboratory equipment, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and digital health.
Recognized as the region’s second-largest health industry event, Iran Health draws a diverse range of domestic and international participants annually. The four-day event offers a platform to present the latest technological advancements and foster collaboration across the healthcare sector. Exhibitors will showcase innovations spanning medical devices, healthcare solutions, diagnostic imaging, digital health technologies, and medical tourism.
The exhibition also serves as a venue for stakeholders to monitor market trends and evaluate the future trajectory of healthcare development in Iran and the wider region. Organizers emphasize the event’s role in strengthening technological partnerships and bolstering Iran’s health innovation ecosystem.
Iran has emerged as a regional leader in health system development. In May 2025, Hanan Balkhi, director of the World Health Organization’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, praised Iran for its progress in expanding primary healthcare services, increasing rural health coverage, maintaining high vaccination rates, and reducing maternal and newborn mortality. These achievements align with Iran’s broader aim of universal health coverage and were highlighted during Balkhi’s meeting with Iran’s Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarqandi at the 78th World Health Assembly.
Self-sufficiency in medicine and medical equipment production remains a top government priority. In March 2025, Minister Zafarqandi underscored efforts to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities to ensure a stable supply of medicines and medical devices. According to Abdolreza Yaqoubzadeh, head of Iran’s Union of Medical Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters, Iranian companies export medical equipment to over 60 countries each year. Domestic production accounts for more than 70 percent of medical equipment and all standard hospital beds used within the country.
Advanced medical technologies are also increasingly manufactured locally. Over 95 percent of intensive care and coronary care unit beds, as well as more than 85 percent of operating room equipment including anesthesia machines, are produced in Iran using state-of-the-art technology. The country hosts approximately 600 medical equipment companies supplying about 99 percent of medicines domestically and offering more than 10,000 types of medical devices for both local use and export.
Additionally, laboratory equipment produced in Iran is priced significantly lower than comparable foreign alternatives, further highlighting the sector’s growth and competitive edge. The Iran Health exhibition is expected to further drive innovation and support the expansion of Iran’s health industry by fostering connections and opportunities among key players.
