Iran’s defense minister has praised the country’s army for its advancements in self-reliance, technological development, and security capabilities, marking significant progress since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani delivered remarks on the occasion of National Army Day, observed annually on April 18, highlighting the evolution of the Iranian military into a key pillar of national defense and regional deterrence.

In his statement, Ashtiani credited the Islamic Republic’s founding leader, Imam Khomeini, for shaping the army during critical periods of the revolution and early statehood. He emphasized the army’s steadfast role throughout the Iran-Iraq war and its ongoing commitment to protecting the nation’s sovereignty while providing assistance during natural disasters.

The defense minister underscored the army’s expanded capabilities, which he said contribute significantly to Iran’s deterrent posture both regionally and internationally. He attributed this success to the dedication of personnel across the various military branches who have worked to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity.

Ashtiani also acknowledged the coordinated efforts between the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), highlighting their joint operations, including one named “Truthful Promise,” which have demonstrated enhanced military effectiveness.

Concluding his message, the defense minister extended congratulations to the armed forces and Iranian citizens on National Army Day. He expressed optimism about the continued development of Iran’s military strength and deterrence under the direction of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
