Iran’s Shahin Banitalebi has been named the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) Male Taolu Athlete of 2025, following a public vote conducted by the sport’s governing body. Banitalebi’s selection came after a thorough review by the IWUF Athletes’ Committee and resulted in his triumph over strong contenders, particularly from Chinese athletes.
A member of the Iranian national team since 2013, Banitalebi has built a distinguished career in wushu taolu disciplines. His notable achievements in 2025 include winning gold in the nanquan-nangun combined event at the World Games held in Chengdu, China, in August. He further secured a bronze medal in the nandao event at the 17th World Wushu Championships in Brasília, Brazil.
The IWUF highlighted Banitalebi’s consistent performance at both world and Asian competitions, emphasizing his ability to compete successfully at the highest level. The federation also praised his professionalism, discipline, and dedication to training, noting that his example serves as an inspiration for younger athletes and establishes him as a respected representative of the sport internationally.
