Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) has finalized 30 agreements with international partners aimed at expanding the export of technical and engineering services, according to a senior official. Mohammadreza Karimzadeh, Director General of the TPO’s Export Office, stated that the organization has actively deployed engineering and technical teams to countries including Iraq, Russia, and China as part of these efforts.
Highlighting a positive outlook for service exports, Karimzadeh noted the ongoing potential for growth in this sector throughout the current year. He reported that Iran’s exports of technical and engineering services reached approximately $1.29 billion in the previous Iranian calendar year, with transactions spanning over 20 countries worldwide.
The TPO has undertaken a series of initiatives to facilitate and promote these exports, reflecting a broader government commitment to supporting cross-border activities in technical and engineering fields. Among these efforts were revisions to the executive regulations for service exporters, which received approval from the Cabinet of Ministers last year. Additionally, a support package tailored for exporters of engineering and technical services was drafted, along with a market development plan targeting key export destinations.
Karimzadeh emphasized the TPO’s role in coordinating trade delegations to various countries, including Iraq, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia, to enhance bilateral cooperation and market presence. This multi-pronged approach seeks to strengthen Iran’s footprint in the global technical services market amid ongoing economic challenges and international sanctions.
The agreements and accompanying government measures align with Iran’s strategic goal to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on traditional commodity exports by boosting high-value service sectors. Despite external pressures on the Iranian economy, officials remain optimistic about the sector’s capacity to generate foreign revenue and contribute to economic resilience.
