Qatar is set to host the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Doha triathlon from March 18 to 20, 2027, with the event taking place at Old Doha Port. This marks a significant addition to the country’s expanding calendar of international sports events and highlights its ambition to strengthen its status as a premier destination for sports tourism.

The triathlon, organized in partnership with The Ironman Group, a leading global endurance event organizer, will feature the standard Ironman 70.3 format on March 20, 2027. Participants will complete a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer cycling segment, and a 21.1-kilometer run in a course set along Doha’s waterfront. The event aims to draw thousands of athletes, enthusiasts, and visitors from across the region and beyond.

In addition to the main race, the event will include an Ironkids race on March 19, designed to engage younger participants and encourage community involvement. The triathlon weekend is expected to foster a vibrant environment for both competitors and spectators, supported by fan zones, the interactive Ironman Village, and a range of entertainment and community activities throughout the three days.

Visit Qatar, the national tourism promotion agency, emphasized that the event will leverage the country's advanced infrastructure and hospitality sector, demonstrating Qatar’s capacity to host large-scale international sporting events. The triathlon is anticipated to contribute positively to the local economy by attracting sports tourism and generating increased visitor activity.

Further information regarding athlete registration, spectator arrangements, and exclusive travel packages for competitors and their families is expected to be released soon through Visit Qatar’s official platforms. The introduction of the Ironman 70.3 Doha triathlon complements Qatar’s ongoing efforts to diversify its sporting portfolio and enhance its global sports tourism footprint.
