Isack Hadjar is set to return to Formula 1 competition at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this week after missing the previous three races due to a wrist injury. The 21-year-old French driver, who races for Red Bull, suffered a fracture during the summer break while practicing boxing, a sport he has participated in since childhood.

Hadjar’s absence led to New Zealander Liam Lawson, previously with Red Bull’s junior team Racing Bulls, filling in as his replacement for the last three rounds. Red Bull issued a statement expressing gratitude toward Lawson for his professionalism, dedication, and effort during this period.

Prior to his injury, Hadjar had demonstrated strong performances in his debut season with Red Bull, including a podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix. As the championship resumes, he sits eighth in the drivers’ standings, trailing McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in seventh place by 49 points. Hadjar’s return to the Baku City Circuit is anticipated to bolster his campaign as the season progresses.
