In Friday’s matchup against a strong Rangers squad predominantly composed of their top players, George’s performance was underwhelming. He finished with a minus-one rating and was frequently caught out of position. The Islanders lost the game 6-1, reflecting struggles across the team, particularly among less experienced players.
George acknowledged the uncertainty regarding his playing time moving forward but expressed confidence in his ongoing development. “I thought each day I got better and I was a good player out there,” he said. “At the end of the day, I did my best and whatever happens, happens.”
Veteran players Tony DeAngelo, Pierre Engvall, Kyle MacLean, and Mitchell Chaffee, all with over 100 NHL games, participated in their second preseason game Friday, rendering them ineligible to play Saturday. This development likely paves the way for a fourth line featuring Anthony Duclair and Ondrej Palat alongside Casey Cizikas for the Saturday dress rehearsal.
