Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Monday resulted in the deaths of five Palestinians, including a young girl, according to medical sources and emergency responders. Civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal reported that 13 people have been killed and approximately 60 wounded by Israeli fire and airstrikes in Gaza over the past 24 hours.

Bassal said that among the casualties were three individuals, including a child, who died in an airstrike targeting a camp for displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis. However, the Israeli military stated it was “not aware” of any military activity in that location.

Separately, a United Nations-mandated investigative commission accused Israel of committing crimes against humanity in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The commission alleged that Israel has engaged in “extermination” in the West Bank and continues to carry out “genocide” against Palestinians in Gaza. These findings follow a report released by the commission in September 2025 that declared Israel’s actions in the Gaza conflict amounted to genocide. Israel has firmly rejected these accusations.

The recent violence underscores ongoing tensions and hostilities in the region, with the Gaza Strip frequently experiencing airstrikes amid broader conflicts between Israel and Palestinian groups. The differing accounts and allegations highlight the complexities of the situation and the challenges facing international investigations in the area.
