Israeli forces intensified their military operations across southern Lebanon on Tuesday, targeting multiple border communities with artillery shelling, airstrikes, and ground incursions. The offensive included pre-dawn strikes near the Litani River and continued demolition of residential areas.

At approximately 4 a.m., airstrikes focused on the Litani River area below the Deir Mar Mima monastery in Deir Mimas. Simultaneously, artillery fire and machine-gun attacks struck several villages, including Markaba, Mansouri, Beit Lif, Dohat Kfar Roummane, and the Ali Taher ridge. Israeli ground units deployed heavy armor to construct earthen barriers at the Burj al-Muluk and Houra junctions, positioning fortifications within 150 meters of civilian homes.

Further operations by Israeli combat engineers involved controlled demolitions in the communities of Majdal Zoun, Ainata, Zawtar Sharqieh, and the Doubeih sector of Mais al-Jabal, resulting in the destruction of numerous civilian structures. Reports also indicate the use of incendiary white phosphorus rounds between Haris and Haddatha, setting fires that damaged olive groves vital to local livelihoods.

In the village of Yater, Israeli drones deployed stun grenades targeting residents, while attack helicopters conducted machine-gun strafing runs along riverbanks near Taybeh. These actions have caused extensive material damage and heightened tensions along the Lebanese border.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) assessed the situation as severe, with spokesperson Kandice Ardiel highlighting widespread destruction extending from Kafr Kila to Naqoura. UNIFIL noted that entire neighborhoods have been destroyed and that critical civil infrastructure—including water pipelines, electricity networks, schools, and healthcare facilities—has suffered significant damage. The peacekeeping force characterized these attacks as systematic, undermining the long-term viability of southern Lebanese border communities.

The escalation comes amid broader regional tensions and diplomatic efforts led by the United States, which brokered a framework aimed at reducing hostilities. However, critics argue that this arrangement has provided cover for Israeli military expansion in southern Lebanon while pressuring the Lebanese government to disarm resistance groups. Israeli forces continue to conduct daily demolitions and ground operations, raising concerns about the impact on civilian populations and the stability of the border region.

Lebanese resistance factions and their supporters maintain that continued military pressure serves to facilitate territorial encroachment and foreign domination, emphasizing their role as defenders of Lebanon’s sovereignty.

The evolving situation underscores the fragility of security arrangements in southern Lebanon and the challenges facing diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving entrenched conflicts along the Israel-Lebanon border.
