In the Isthmian League Premier Division, significant player movement has occurred between Brentwood Town and Aveley, two Essex-based rivals, following a managerial change that has reshaped both squads.
Manager Brett Munyard departed Aveley to take charge at Brentwood Town just hours before their scheduled FA Cup tie two weeks ago, a move that was met with controversy. Since his switch, four key first-team players from Aveley have joined Munyard at Brentwood. Defender Ryan Henshaw led the group, followed by midfielders Ollie Peters, George Saunders, and Jayden Robinson.
In response, Aveley have replenished their squad with several signings, including two players returning from Brentwood. Young striker Aaron Sterling, who rejoined Brentwood earlier from Leyton Orient before moving back, made five appearances during his second spell with the Blues. Midfielder Shad Ngandu also returned to Aveley after a brief two-week stint at Brentwood following his former spell with Maldon & Tiptree.
Alex Akrofi, who assumed the managerial role at Aveley following Munyard's departure, has been active in reinforcing his team. Among his acquisitions is forward Kymani Thomas, previously with Brentwood last season, who has joined Aveley on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge. Additionally, Akrofi secured the services of young goalkeeper Tommy Goodger on loan from West Ham United. Goodger recently gained experience with Brentwood and made his debut for Aveley in a notable 3-2 FA Cup victory over Brentwood.
Further transfers between the clubs include striker Francis Mampolo signing for Aveley from AFC Whyteleafe, a deal that saw Toby Aromolaran move in the opposite direction to Whyteleafe. Meanwhile, Chris Harris has departed Aveley to join Welling United.
These transfers illustrate the dynamic relationship between Brentwood Town and Aveley amid managerial shifts, with both clubs actively reshaping their squads ahead of the season’s critical stages.
