Italian authorities have questioned Premier League defender Riccardo Calafiori in connection with an investigation into an alleged prostitution ring involving multiple athletes. The Arsenal player, 24, was reportedly called to speak to prosecutors in Milan, though he is not under formal investigation and did not have to provide a statement. Calafiori is among the first footballers to be questioned in the ongoing probe, which centers on an alleged escort agency reportedly linked to as many as 50 sports figures.
Separately, Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is under scrutiny in a related case concerning allegations of child prostitution. Bastoni, 27, is accused of paying a 17-year-old girl for sex in 2020. He has denied any wrongdoing and declined to appear for police questioning. The young woman involved has reportedly also denied that any crime occurred, stating she was not a prostitute and did not receive money for sex.
Italian prosecutors continue to investigate the broader network involving athletes and the alleged escort services. The authorities have not disclosed further details about the scope of the investigation or any additional individuals involved. Both Calafiori and Bastoni maintain their innocence, with only Bastoni currently facing formal inquiry tied to the allegations.
