Production has begun on an ITV drama focusing on the infected blood scandal that affected thousands in the United Kingdom from the 1970s through the early 1990s. The series, titled "Bad Blood," examines the widespread distribution of contaminated blood and blood products, which led to chronic health issues and over 3,000 deaths.

Written by Bafta-winning screenwriter Peter Moffat, the four-part drama features a cast that includes Iain Glen, Ben Chaplin, Susan Lynch, and Luke Treadaway. The storyline centres on four boys attending a boarding school for disabled children, which includes an NHS centre specialising in treatment for haemophilia. At the centre, the boys receive a groundbreaking therapy; however, they and their families are unaware that doctors are conducting trials using blood products on them without informed consent.

The drama aims to shed light on the personal and systemic failures surrounding the scandal, which exposed thousands of patients to infected blood before safety measures were adequately implemented.
