Actor Jack Lowden has been cast as Mr. Darcy in Netflix’s forthcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s "Pride and Prejudice," marking the latest interpretation of the iconic literary character. Lowden, known for his role in the television series "Slow Horses," steps into a part previously portrayed by Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen in earlier adaptations.

The series, adapted by writer Dolly Alderton, pairs Lowden with Emma Corrin, who will play Elizabeth Bennet, the novel’s protagonist and Darcy’s romantic counterpart. The production aims to bring a fresh take on the beloved Regency-era story, blending classic elements with contemporary sensibilities.

The cast also includes notable actors Olivia Colman and Rufus Sewell as Mrs. and Mr. Bennet, respectively. Jamie Demetriou is set to perform as Mr. Collins, while Louis Partridge takes on the role of Mr. Wickham, a key rival and foil to Darcy’s character.

Set for release on December 3, the Netflix series is anticipated to attract both period drama enthusiasts and new audiences. It continues the tradition of adapting Austen’s work for the screen, introducing the enduring story of love, social standing, and personal growth to a global streaming platform.
