Brian Chilcott, 39, from Kelso, has been sentenced to four years in prison for attacking a woman he met through Facebook, Newcastle Crown Court heard. The court was told that Chilcott has a prior history of assaulting three former partners.

The most recent victim recounted two separate attacks. The first occurred at a hotel in Northumberland, where hotel staff found blood stains on the walls and bed following an assault that reportedly lasted throughout the night. The second attack took place at the woman’s home, leaving her deeply frightened of Chilcott’s potential for further violence.

In an impact statement read at the hearing, the victim described her experience as the “worst mistake I’ve ever made in my life” and characterized Chilcott as “cold and evil.”

In addition to the prison sentence, Chilcott was issued a 15-year restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim. The court’s ruling reflects the seriousness of the charges and Chilcott’s pattern of violent behavior toward former partners.
