A prison nurse appeared in court on Tuesday facing allegations of misconduct related to an inappropriate relationship with a convicted offender. Stephanie Adair, 29, who was employed at HMP Wandsworth in South West London, is accused of engaging in a relationship with Jahki Crosdale, a convicted drug dealer serving time for manslaughter.
The relationship between Adair and Crosdale reportedly lasted for approximately 13 months, ending in November 2024. The allegations surfaced after Crosdale listed Adair’s address on his court documents, prompting an investigation into their interactions.
Adair appeared before Wimbledon magistrates to answer a charge of misconduct in public office. She was granted bail following the hearing. Crosdale, 28, faces a separate charge of encouraging the commission of an indictable-only offense connected to the alleged relationship. However, he did not attend the hearing in person due to technical difficulties with a video link from HMP Manchester, where he is currently incarcerated.
Crosdale was previously sentenced to six years in prison in 2015 for manslaughter, related to a fatal stabbing incident that occurred the previous year.
The case highlights the challenges of maintaining professional boundaries within correctional facilities and raises questions about protocols surrounding staff-offender interactions. The court is expected to hear further details as proceedings continue.
