Trainer James Owen expressed confidence ahead of Saturday’s Coral Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood, describing the race as an ideal opportunity for his four-year-old horse, Far Above Dream. The horse, entered as the sponsor’s 6-1 favorite, has previously shown strong form over the course and distance, including a win last October and another success upon returning to racing in May.

Far Above Dream, ridden by Kieran Shoemark, recently secured a hat-trick of victories at Newbury before finishing fourth behind Double Rush in the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot. Owen noted that the Wokingham run was a valuable experience despite the conditions not suiting the horse’s strengths. “When he won at Newbury it allowed us to get into the Wokingham and we thought we would give it a shot,” Owen said. “I thought he ran great on a track that wouldn’t really play to his strengths. He’s had a nice freshen up since and this has always been the plan – he’s unbeaten at Goodwood and the Stewards’ Cup is the ideal race.”

In addition to Far Above Dream, Owen will also enter Soldier’s Tree in the six-furlong contest. The five-year-old, ridden by Billy Loughnane, came third to Symbol Of Honour in the Group Three Hackwood Stakes at Newbury 11 days ago and was the 7-4 market favorite for that race. Owen commented on Soldier’s Tree’s chances, highlighting the horse’s preference for a fast-paced contest: “He’s not without a shot – he’ll like the fast pace.”

Saturday’s Coral Stewards’ Cup represents the concluding feature race of the Glorious Goodwood meeting, attracting strong competition as trainers and jockeys aim to secure victory in this prestigious handicap event.
