James Nesbitt is set to star in a new Northern Irish comedy series titled *Hopley Hall*, which will air on the BBC. The six-episode show features Nesbitt alongside Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, known for her role in *Derry Girls*. The series is centered on a neglected stately home located in County Antrim, characterized by issues such as rising damp, poor heating, and a controversial past.
The storyline revolves around a group of dysfunctional volunteers and staff tasked with running the tourist attraction, which faces resentment from local residents. Nesbitt expressed enthusiasm about returning to the Antrim coast, a region where his mother grew up and where he spent much of his childhood. He described the series as innovative and humorous, highlighting its distinctly Northern Irish tone and the opportunity to work with local talent.
The cast also includes James Martin, known for his work in *Funboys*, and Leela Harris, who starred in *Youth*. Production on the series has recently commenced in Northern Ireland.
