Trainer Jamie Snowden secured four winners across two racecourses, highlighted by the performance of Wendigo at Carlisle. Snowden, who had indicated that the Listed Colin Parker Chase would serve as a preparation for the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury later this month, saw his 4-1 outsider give 10 pounds to runner-up Potters Charm and win by two and a quarter lengths.
In addition to Wendigo’s victory, Snowden’s charge Obsessedwithyou also triumphed in the Listed mares’ chase at Carlisle. Snowden further added to his tally with a double win at Worcester, rounding off an impressive day for the stable.
Snowden acknowledged the challenges faced by Wendigo, noting that the ground conditions were firmer than preferred, the race distance shorter at two and a half miles, and the course was right-handed—all factors not ideally suited to the horse. Despite this, Wendigo’s performance at assigned weights marked a strong preparation for the upcoming Coral Gold Cup at Newbury, prompting bookmakers to shorten the horse’s odds from 10-1 to 8-1.
Reflecting on the day, Snowden described the twin wins at Worcester as promising, while highlighting the Carlisle successes as particularly remarkable given the circumstances. The trainer’s confident outlook suggests Wendigo is primed for a competitive run in the next major event later this month.
