Miyu Yamashita successfully defended her title at the LPGA Tour’s Maybank Championship, finishing two strokes ahead of China’s Yan Liu on Sunday at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. The 25-year-old Japanese golfer, who won the Women’s British Open in 2025, closed with a four-under 68 to post a 72-hole total of 22-under 266.

Yamashita, who led the tournament from the second round onward, recorded five birdies and only one bogey on the par-4 9th hole during the final round. Her consistent play secured her fifth career title and second victory on the LPGA Tour this season, following a commanding wire-to-wire nine-stroke win at the CPKC Women’s Open in Edmonton in August.

Yan Liu surged into contention with a 63 in the third round and carded another 68 on Sunday, finishing at 18-under 268. Despite her strong performance, she was unable to overcome Yamashita’s steady lead.

Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who held the lead after the opening round, closed with a 69 and tied for third place alongside Thailand’s amateur Marisa Tojaj, who posted a 67. Both finished one stroke behind Liu. Australia’s Robyn Choi ended the tournament in fifth place at 17-under 271 following a final round 69.

The LPGA’s four-week Asian swing is set to conclude next week with the Toto Japan Classic in Omitama, near Tokyo.
