Jasprit Bumrah has been included in India’s T20 squad for the upcoming three-match series against Afghanistan, scheduled to take place at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13, 15, and 17. The 32-year-old fast bowler, however, will require fitness clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) before being confirmed to play, following an impact injury sustained during the second ODI against England in Cardiff on July 16. Bumrah has not bowled since that match.

India’s squad for the fixtures, led by Shreyas Iyer, features a near full-strength 15-man lineup. In addition to Bumrah, three other players—Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy—are part of the squad but must also pass fitness tests ahead of selection.

The Indian team includes captain Shreyas Iyer, vice-captain Tilak Varma, wicketkeepers Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, as well as key players such as Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh.

Afghanistan will officially host the series, despite frequently using venues in India and the United Arab Emirates for their home matches. This series marks another opportunity for both teams to compete ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
