J.B. Hunt Transport Services reported significant revenue and profit gains in the second quarter, reflecting broad-based growth across its core business units. The logistics company posted a net income of $181 million, or $1.91 per share, marking an increase from $128.6 million, or $1.31 per share, in the same period last year.

Revenue for the quarter rose to $3.5 billion, up from $2.93 billion a year earlier, surpassing analyst expectations. Industry analysts had forecast earnings of $1.74 per share on $3.26 billion in revenue, according to data compiled by FactSet.

The company’s intermodal segment, its largest division, generated $1.75 billion in revenue, a 22% increase driven in part by a 10% rise in shipment volume. The integrated capacity solutions business saw its revenue jump 49% to $388 million, while the dedicated contract services segment posted a 9% revenue gain to $921 million. Truckload revenues surged 35% to $240 million.

Following the earnings release, J.B. Hunt shares rose 6.4% in after-hours trading, closing at $294. The results underscore the company’s continued momentum in expanding its transportation and logistics services amid growing demand.
