Jerry Kelly secured his 14th PGA Tour Champions victory by winning the 2026 ISPS Handa Senior Open at Gleneagles in Scotland on July 26. The 59-year-old American finished with a final-round score of two-under-par 68, highlighted by an up-and-down birdie from a greenside bunker on the par-5 18th hole, sealing his triumph at the prestigious tournament.

Kelly’s win marked his first Senior Open title, adding to his two Senior Players Championship victories, the second of which was under the event’s current title, the Kaulig Companies Championship. With the Senior Open trophy in hand—a prize he described as the most coveted among over-50 golfers—Kelly expressed deep appreciation for the support he received from the Scottish fans.

“It’s indescribable to win it. The senior Claret Jug is the trophy that I’ve wanted as an over-50 golfer more than any other,” Kelly said. “To do it in Scotland at the Home of Golf and to actually win and get into the Home of Golf at St Andrews… I’m absolutely speechless. But it’s been this Scotland army out here that’s been behind me that really brought me through.”

In the closing moments of the tournament, Australian Cameron Percy had a six-foot birdie putt that could have applied pressure on Kelly, but he narrowly missed left. Kelly then capitalized by sinking a four-foot birdie putt to finish at 10-under-par, the only player to reach double digits under par on the weekend.

Percy shared second place at eight-under with American Matt Gogel, who produced an impressive final-round 63, and South African Darren Fichardt. Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher shot a tournament-low round of 62 on the final day to claim solo fifth at six-under but fell short of claiming a home victory.

Kelly’s performance on the course demonstrated a strong mental approach that he credited for his success this week. “My brain, actually, was the most successful part of my game,” Kelly reflected. “In the past, I would have gotten down that I wasn’t striking it the way I’d like to strike it. But instead of worrying about that, I just went and took care of the next shot. I learned a lot about myself today, and I wish I would have learned it about 20, 30 years ago. You’re never too old to learn, and that’s what really pulled me through.”

The victory made Kelly the 10th American to claim the Senior Open title, and he became the oldest winner of the event since Bernhard Langer, who won it at age 61 in 2019. The ISPS Handa Senior Open was the 16th of 28 events on the PGA Tour Champions calendar this season and the final senior major of the year. Nine regular-season tournaments remain before the three-event Charles Schwab Cup playoff series begins.
