Jessica Pegula reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon on Monday, advancing after a three-set victory over fellow American Iva Jovic, setting up a potential debut on the tournament’s Centre Court. The 32-year-old, who has competed extensively on the main stages of the other three Grand Slam events, has yet to play on Wimbledon's most prestigious court.

Pegula defeated Jovic, 18, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 on No. 1 Court, overcoming a slow start characterized by a string of unforced errors and four service breaks in the opening set. After Jovic took a bathroom break following the first set, Pegula regained her composure and improved her serving performance, quickly taking control of the match to win the second set. She continued with an efficient third set, breaking twice and clinching the victory with an ace.

Reflecting on her career at Wimbledon, Pegula described not having yet played on Centre Court as "weird," emphasizing the significance of the potential accomplishment. “It would be really cool. An honour. Everybody wants to be on Centre Court Wimbledon at one point,” she said. Pegula also expressed enthusiasm about her experience on Court No. 1, describing it as delivering a "true Wimbledon experience" and speculating that Centre Court would feel even more special.

If Pegula reaches the semifinals, she is likely to secure the opportunity to play on Centre Court for the first time. Such a milestone would complete what she referred to as her personal quest to compete on the premier courts of all four Grand Slam events.

Pegula, a former US Open finalist, continues to seek deeper runs on grass courts, having established herself as a consistent presence in major tournaments. Her progress at Wimbledon marks another step toward achieving a new career milestone on one of tennis’s biggest stages.
