Jessica Pegula has emerged as the highest remaining seed in the women’s singles draw at Wimbledon after advancing to the quarter-finals. The American world No. 4 secured her spot by defeating 18-year-old Iva Jovic in a three-set match on No. 1 Court. Pegula recovered from an initial 4-6 set loss to claim the next two sets 6-3 and 6-1.

At 32 years old, Pegula has yet to make her debut on Wimbledon’s Centre Court, despite having appeared on the main courts at the other three Grand Slam tournaments. She expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of playing on Centre Court, saying it would be an honor and a milestone she hopes to achieve by earning her place, potentially by progressing to the semi-finals.

“I love Court One. It’s so nice. You really get the true Wimbledon experience,” Pegula said, reflecting on her earlier quarter-final runs at the tournament. “If I get there, it will be even better. If I’ve earned my spot there, making a semi, knowing I can get there, that would be awesome.”

Pegula’s victory over Jovic marked the first time an opponent has taken a set off her at Wimbledon this year, underscoring the competitiveness of the match. With this win, Pegula continues to build momentum in the tournament as she aims for a deeper run at the grass-court Grand Slam.
