Jesurun Uchegbulam has completed a move to Bury FC, marking his third transfer of the summer. The 25-year-old winger joined Welsh club The New Saints from Chelmsford City on June 1 but exited the club six weeks later without making an appearance, subsequently returning to former side Matlock Town. Now, after a brief trial period at Bury’s Gigg Lane ground, Uchegbulam has signed with the National League North club managed by Anthony Johnson.

Johnson described Uchegbulam as a player who has been searching for stability over the past year, noting the importance of finding a club where the winger can fully showcase his talents. “Over the last 12 months, he’s become a bit nomadic, moving about a little bit trying to find a home,” Johnson said. He added that securing Uchegbulam fills a gap in the squad and complements the team’s existing strengths.

Uchegbulam previously played for Chesterfield and Rochdale, and was part of Oldham Athletic’s squad that achieved promotion from the National League. His arrival follows that of John Clarke, a 22-year-old left-back who recently signed from Reading. Clarke spent four years with Reading before sustaining a significant knee ligament injury. Last season, he gained experience on loan at National League South side Slough Town.

Johnson has expressed optimism about both new signings. Clarke contributed two goals in a recent pre-season win over Wigan Athletic’s under-21 team, prompting Johnson to praise his ability and potential impact. “We’ve been really impressed with him since he’s been in with us,” Johnson remarked. He anticipated that both Clarke and Uchegbulam would be valuable additions as Bury prepare for their upcoming National League North campaign.
