Perrie Edwards has confirmed that a reunion of Little Mix is planned but will proceed without Jesy Nelson. Nelson, who stepped away from the group, announced earlier in 2024 that she has no intentions of returning to the music industry as she focuses on caring for her twin daughters, both of whom have been diagnosed with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Edwards revealed that she has been in communication with fellow group members Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock about the prospects of reuniting. Speaking to Attitude magazine, Edwards said she is enthusiastic about the reunion plans and noted that the three continue to keep in touch regularly, often discussing when and how a comeback might happen.
When asked if the reunion would include all four original members, Edwards was clear it would involve only the trio, stating, “A three. Definitely a three.” The decision reflects Nelson’s current personal commitments and her choice to prioritize her family and health challenges over resuming her career with the group.
Little Mix originally rose to prominence after winning the eighth season of the UK’s The X Factor in 2011 and have been one of the most successful British girl groups over the past decade. Nelson’s departure from the band was announced in late 2020, citing mental health reasons. Since then, Edwards, Thirlwall, and Pinnock have continued to pursue individual projects alongside hopes of reuniting as a trio.
