Australian rock band Jet has been announced as the headline act for the final MotoGP event at Phillip Island, set to take place on October 25. This event marks the end of an era, as the race will move from Victoria’s Phillip Island circuit to South Australia in future seasons.

Jet, known for hits such as "Are You Gonna Be My Girl," will perform immediately following the conclusion of the race, which has been held annually at Phillip Island since 1997, with the first event at the venue dating back to 1989. The announcement was made ahead of the farewell race weekend, which will also feature a performance by Australian rock icon Jimmy Barnes on the Saturday night.

Nic Cester, lead singer of Jet and a Melbourne native, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming show, stating the band is looking forward to performing for the MotoGP crowd at the iconic circuit.

Entry to Jet’s post-race concert will be included with all Sunday tickets, which are priced from $99. The weekend’s lineup of performances aims to enhance the atmosphere surrounding what will be Victoria’s last major MotoGP event, a significant loss for the state’s sporting calendar.

Travis Auld, CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, said the presence of high-profile Australian rock acts like Barnes and Jet would provide a fitting conclusion to Victoria’s biggest regional major event. He highlighted the positive impact the entertainment would have on the already vibrant race day experience at Phillip Island.

In recent years, the Phillip Island MotoGP has drawn considerable crowds, with last year’s event attracting 93,000 fans — the largest since 2012 and an increase of 10,000 from 2024 numbers. Expectations are for an even greater turnout in October as fans come to witness the final running of the race at the venue regarded as Australia’s sporting capital for motorcycle racing.
