New York Jets guard Joe Tippmann has secured a four-year contract extension worth $62 million, including $31 million guaranteed, the team announced Monday. The deal, which runs through the 2030 season, makes Tippmann the 15th-highest-paid guard in the NFL and provides long-term stability for the offensive lineman and the Jets’ offensive front.

Tippmann, who was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, initially played center during his rookie season and parts of 2024 before transitioning full time to right guard in 2025. Over his three years with the team, he has demonstrated durability, missing just one game. Last season, Tippmann ranked 42nd among NFL guards in pass block win rate.

Speaking about the extension, Tippmann expressed relief and optimism. “The feeling of being able to lock that [contract] in and know that I can continue to keep growing within this organization is just a good feeling,” he said. Tippmann also noted that his experience playing both center and guard has contributed to his development as a more versatile offensive lineman.

The extension comes as the Jets enter the 2026 season with several key offensive players returning. Despite bringing in Geno Smith as their new quarterback, the team retains four of the five starting offensive linemen from 2025, including recent addition Dylan Parham, who played alongside Smith on the Raiders last year. All five linemen are under contract for at least the next two seasons, a continuity the Jets’ assistant offensive line coach Dallas Glenn emphasized as critical. “The continuity more than anything is what’s important, especially when you have those five guys that can play together for a long time,” Glenn said.

The Jets also re-signed running back Breece Hall, adding further stability to the offensive unit. While the offensive line has found consistency, Tippmann has experienced multiple changes in offensive coordinators, working under three different coaches in four seasons and blocking for quarterbacks such as Aaron Rodgers, Zach Wilson, and Justin Fields.

Under new offensive coordinator Frank Reich, Tippmann does not expect significant alterations to his role. He praised Reich’s approach to building on last year’s running game. “Frank’s been freaking awesome, the way he came in, he was excited about the way we ran the ball last year,” Tippmann said. “He was coming in not to change everything but to add some stuff to make it even better and take our offensive line play to the next step.”

The Jets aim to move past a difficult 2025 campaign as they prepare to open the 2026 season on September 13 against the Tennessee Titans. With Tippmann’s extension bolstering their offensive line, the team is looking for improved performance in the years ahead.
