A 22-year-old Jewish man was reportedly assaulted by five masked individuals in Golders Green, North London, early Monday morning, in what police are treating as an antisemitic hate crime. According to the Metropolitan Police, the victim sustained injuries to his face and back during the incident.
The attack reportedly occurred after the man stepped outside to make a phone call and was overheard speaking Hebrew. The assailants allegedly chased him, dragged him across the road, and tore his clothing while shouting abuse in Arabic. A nearby resident contacted police, but the suspects fled the scene before officers arrived.
The incident follows closely on the heels of two other attacks on Jewish men in the same area, raising concerns about a surge in violence targeting the Jewish community in London. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that no arrests have been made so far and that investigations are ongoing.
Campaign Against Antisemitism, which reported details of the assault, emphasized the need for urgent measures to address what it described as a "horrific wave of violence" against Jewish people in the UK. The Metropolitan Police have also highlighted the importance of real intervention to prevent further attacks.
