Hull KR extended their dominance in the Hull city derby with a 34-20 victory over Hull FC on Saturday, securing their ninth consecutive win in this local rivalry. The match showcased a series of family connections on both sides, adding a compelling subplot to the contest at the MKM Stadium.

Hull FC drew first blood in the fourth minute when Joe Batchelor, brother of Hull KR’s James Batchelor, scored to give the hosts an early lead. However, Hull KR’s hooker Jez Litten was instrumental in shifting momentum, including a key tackle on Tom Amone that helped disrupt FC’s attack. Shortly after, Arthur Mourgue, the French halfback for Hull KR, contributed significantly by scoring a try and converting seven goals, accumulating a personal tally of 18 points.

Litten’s impact continued as he initiated a high bomb kick that allowed winger Jack Broadbent to score, further extending the visitors’ advantage. Hull KR’s Joe Burgess also made a decisive contribution with a 92-metre intercept try that effectively sealed the outcome as the game progressed.

Despite a late try from Jake Arthur for Hull FC, the visitors maintained control. Jordan Dezaria added a final score in the 77th minute to put the results beyond doubt.

The outcome reaffirmed Hull KR’s status as the superior side in recent derby encounters, emphasizing their consistent form and ability to capitalize on key moments. Hull FC, while competitive, were unable to overcome the resilience and attacking efficiency displayed by their city rivals.
