Jezz Okine-Peters scored a late equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw for Basingstoke Town against Gosport Borough in their recent match.

Gosport took the lead early in the game, with defender Jerry Wiltshire converting a loose ball in the sixth minute. The goal came after a long throw-in caused confusion in the Basingstoke penalty area, allowing Wiltshire to drive the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Basingstoke gradually grew into the contest, with midfielder Alex Solomon narrowly missing an opportunity when his long-range strike struck the post. Basingstoke goalkeeper James Holden made several key saves, denying chances from Jezz Okine-Peters and James Henry in quick succession to keep the visitors within reach.

Following halftime, Gosport’s goalkeeper Simon Grant made crucial stops to prevent goals from Michael Fernandes and Mauro Vilhete. A significant moment late in the match saw Gosport’s Chris Zebroski receive a red card, reducing his team to ten men. Despite this setback, Zebroski also missed a clear scoring opportunity during the game.

Okine-Peters continued to threaten throughout the match for Basingstoke and ultimately delivered the equalizer with a precise header six minutes before the final whistle, securing a valuable point for his team.

The draw leaves both sides sharing the spoils in what was a tightly contested encounter.
