Jimmy White has received a medical exemption from the World Snooker Tour that allows him to compete in slippers rather than the traditional black shoes. The 64-year-old veteran secured a 4-2 victory over 20-year-old Irish player Leone Crowley in the first qualifying round for the Scottish Open. White, a six-time finalist at the World Snooker Championship held at the Crucible Theatre, notably recorded a break of 69 in the second frame of the match.

The exemption was granted due to a foot injury, permitting White to continue playing under these modified conditions. He is scheduled to face Chinese player Liu Hongyu, 22, in the next qualifying round. A win in that match would secure White’s place in the main draw for the tournament, which will take place in Edinburgh this December.
