Joanna Scanlan has described her role in the Apple TV+ spy thriller "Slow Horses" as the best job in television, praising both the production team and her co-star Gary Oldman. The series is set to return on September 16, with Scanlan reprising her role as Moira Tregorian, the record-keeper at MI5’s Slough House, alongside Oldman’s character, Jackson Lamb, the head of the intelligence unit for troubled agents.

Scanlan, an award-winning actress known for her work in projects such as "The Thick of It" and the reboot of "The Larkins," spoke highly of Oldman’s craft and presence on set. She acknowledged the challenge of matching his nuanced performances, noting his ability to convey deep complexity with minimal expression. Despite Lamb’s gruff and unkempt persona on screen, Scanlan quipped that Oldman does not share the character’s physical traits, emphasizing his professionalism and admirable presence during filming.

Beyond her acting career, Scanlan shared insights into her everyday life off camera. Residing in Croydon with her husband, accountant Neil Bicknell, she described a routine grounded in simple pleasures, including dog walking and enjoying a cup of tea. Unusually, she revealed that one of her favorite activities is visiting the local dump, an experience she described as both uplifting and energizing.

Having joined "Slow Horses" in its fourth series, Scanlan expressed enthusiasm for the production’s quality. She pointed out the high standards maintained by Apple TV+, referring to the show’s creation as an immersive and luxurious process, suggesting that the term "television" may not fully capture the scale and ambition behind the series.

"Slow Horses" continues to attract attention for its blend of espionage drama and dark humor, with Scanlan’s and Oldman’s performances drawing particular acclaim as the new season approaches.
