Jobe Bellingham has joined a group of investors in a $10 million funding round for Rezzil, a Manchester-based technology firm specializing in athlete movement tracking and virtual reality training. The 21-year-old midfielder, who plays for Borussia Dortmund and is the younger brother of England international Jude Bellingham, is participating alongside golf coach Phil Kenyon, the Premier League, and Dubai-based venture capital firm Simba Investments. The company’s backers also include former footballers Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, and Vincent Kompany.
Founded in 2017, Rezzil develops “movement intelligence” technology used across various applications, such as virtual reality training, fan engagement experiences, gaming, and sports broadcasting. This season, TNT Sports has incorporated the company’s technology in Premier League match coverage, providing 3D visualizations of key moments on the pitch to enhance audience understanding. The technology has also been featured on the BBC’s Match of the Day program.
Rezzil plans to use the new funding to nearly double its workforce to around 100 employees within the next year and to accelerate its expansion into the North American market and the mobile gaming sector. The specific valuation of the company in this fundraising round was not disclosed.
The investment by Bellingham is part of a broader strategic partnership between Rezzil and the Bellingham family, with the company stating that it will support future digital initiatives through the collaboration.
Sion Colley, chief executive of Rezzil, emphasized the potential of the company’s technology to advance the sports industry’s understanding of athletic movement. “Our ambition is to help the industry understand it in entirely new ways, creating technologies, products and experiences that weren’t previously possible,” he said. Colley also noted that the funding will enable Rezzil to scale its operations globally.
