The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) has heightened enforcement measures against illegal waste dumping, focusing on 21 active disposal sites across Meru and Johan Setia. According to Zaireezal Ahmad Zainuddin, director of the MBDK Environmental Services Department, there are currently 14 illegal dumpsites in Meru and seven in Johan Setia under constant surveillance.

Each individual caught dumping waste illegally faces a fine of RM1,000, with their vehicles impounded for a month. The council has implemented continuous patrols and static monitoring, particularly targeting sites used for disposing of renovation debris.

Zaireezal noted that earlier efforts have resulted in the closure of seven illegal dumpsites in Meru within the past few months. Despite these actions, the council remains vigilant, maintaining regular patrols and stationary surveillance at key hotspots commonly exploited by irresponsible contractors.

The director highlighted that illegal dumping remains a recurrent issue with negative impacts on the environment, including pollution and unpleasant odors, as well as broader public health and safety risks. Zaireezal called on both contractors and members of the public to adhere to authorised waste disposal methods to mitigate these concerns.
