Sean Ono Lennon, the son of Beatles legend John Lennon and artist Yoko Ono, has welcomed his first child. The couple announced the birth of their son, Aurelius, on social media on September 2, 2026. Sean, 50, shared a photo of his partner, musician and model Charlotte Kemp Muhl, 39, holding their newborn son in a hospital bed, alongside a caption humorously referring to their new arrival as a “Human Bean.”

Kemp Muhl also posted images with the baby and described the early days of parenthood, mentioning the surreal experience of sleep deprivation and asking for advice on infant care. She noted playing music by Aphex Twin and Stravinsky to the newborn and remarked on the surprising nature of the baby’s first bowel movements.

Sean Ono Lennon and Kemp Muhl met in 2005 and have collaborated on various musical projects, including forming the band The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger. Sean has pursued a solo music career as well, releasing albums such as *Into The Sun* (1998), *Friendly Fire* (2006), and *Asterisms* (2024).

Aurelius marks John Lennon’s first grandchild. Lennon was shot and killed in New York in 1980, five years after Sean’s birth. Sean’s mother, Yoko Ono, has two other grandchildren through her daughter Kyoko Chan Cox, whom she had with ex-husband Anthony D. Cox. John Lennon also has another son, Julian Lennon, 63, from his first marriage to Cynthia Powell. Julian reportedly has not had children himself, citing a difficult relationship with his father as a factor in his decision.

The name Aurelius is of Latin origin, meaning “golden” or “gilded,” and is relatively uncommon as a baby name in the United States. Sean’s social media announcement was warmly received, with the new father expressing gratitude and sharing joy over the arrival of his son.
