John Pearce, known to young audiences as the Purple Wiggle, has embraced his unexpected nickname, the “Hot Wiggle,” with a sense of humor and humility. The 35-year-old performer joined the children’s entertainment group The Wiggles in 2021, transitioning from his earlier career as a member of the pop group Justice Crew.
Pearce described gaining the affectionate but somewhat unconventional moniker as surprising, saying he never anticipated such a reaction when he became part of The Wiggles. Despite the attention, he said he tries not to focus too heavily on it and prefers to concentrate on his roles as a husband and father. Pearce and his partner Jessie Adamo-Pearce have a young son named Henry.
“I’m just focusing on being a good husband and the best dad in the world and trying to do my best in The Wiggles,” Pearce said. He noted that while his earlier career in a boy band involved seeking adoration, his time with The Wiggles is centered around fun and supporting children’s entertainment. “When I left all that behind and joined The Wiggles, I was prepared to just be a full-time goofball and just have a bit of fun. In The Wiggles, it is all about the children at the end of the day.”
Pearce’s fit and athletic appearance has drawn particular attention, leading to the affectionate nickname “Big Strong John” within the group. He recently appeared in a playful advertising campaign for food and grocery delivery service MILKRUN, titled “Can’t Leave? MILKRUN It.” The campaign humorously imagines Pearce’s devoted fans, mainly parents, missing his fitness-driven persona at home.
The partnership with MILKRUN was a natural fit for Pearce, who has been a long-time user of the delivery service. He highlighted its convenience for parents needing last-minute groceries and essentials, noting that he and his family regularly recommend it to friends.
Through his continued work with The Wiggles and his ventures outside of performing, Pearce balances his family life with his career, taking the spotlight in stride while maintaining a focus on the group’s young audience and their enjoyment.
