The former world No. 1 ended the tournament ranked last among the 138 players who made the start, marking one of the lowest points in his professional career. Rahm closed his second round with five bogeys, a double bogey, and just two birdies, leaving the course without speaking to reporters.

Rahm is currently navigating contractual uncertainties related to his £222 million signing deal with LIV Golf. The controversial golf series initiated voluntary bankruptcy proceedings earlier this month, raising questions about the future validity of Rahm’s contract. Should the agreement be voided, it is anticipated that Rahm will resume competing full-time on the DP World Tour in the upcoming season.

Fellow English golfer Tommy Fleetwood also missed the cut after rounds of 73 and 74, while Rory McIlroy remained in contention, shooting a 67 to position himself at eight under par, four strokes behind the American leader, Ryan Gerard. McIlroy is pursuing an unprecedented eighth Order of Merit title.

The tournament also saw the withdrawal of Patrick Reed, currently ranked world No. 2, due to injury. Reed reportedly sustained the injury after striking a submerged tree root on the ninth hole, forcing him to leave the competition.
