Matthew Jordan carded a seven-under 65 in the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, positioning himself and his team among the tournament’s frontrunners despite some lighthearted pressure from his amateur playing partner, television presenter Piers Morgan.
Jordan, a member of Royal Liverpool Golf Club, played the round at Carnoustie Golf Links, recording six birdies and an eagle. His only setback came at the ninth hole, where he made a bogey. Earlier, at Kingsbarns Golf Links, Jordan posted a 68, bringing his total to 10 under par through two rounds.
Competing alongside Jordan were professional golfers Jon Rahm and Jordan Smith. Their combined efforts fell just short of a playoff, missing a three-way chance at the title by a single stroke.
Throughout the rounds, Morgan offered good-natured ribbing, particularly teasing Jordan about his cautious approach off the tee. Jordan used his driver only twice over 36 holes, a tactic that drew frequent commentary from Morgan. Despite Morgan’s jests, Jordan maintained his composure and delivered a strong performance.
Morgan himself acknowledged Jordan’s superior control, quipping, “I’m a little jealous of Matthew’s control off the tee. But you’ll promise me you’ll never take a pointer from me — thanks.” His humorous interactions added an entertaining dimension to the event for both players and spectators.
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship continues to attract top talent and enthusiastic participation, blending professional competition with the unique team formats and celebrity involvement that have become trademarks of the tournament.
