The highly anticipated heavyweight boxing match between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, scheduled for December 11 in Cardiff, is reportedly at risk amid ongoing tensions between their respective promoters. The two British fighters are expected to appear at a press conference in London on Wednesday to promote the bout, but disputes off the ring have cast doubt on the event's viability.

Fury publicly raised concerns over the involvement of rival promoters Eddie Hearn and Dana White. White, the American head of UFC and Zuffa Boxing, was named alongside The Ring, owned by Saudi Arabian figure Turki Alalshikh, as a promoter for the fight. However, Hearn, Joshua’s long-established promoter and chairman of Matchroom Sport, quickly challenged White’s role in the promotion.

The discord between Hearn and White has been ongoing for months, centering primarily on disagreements over the fight’s location and promotional rights. Fury criticized Hearn’s conduct, accusing him of letting personal grievances jeopardize the match and calling the situation detrimental to what he described as potentially the biggest fight in British boxing history.

“Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn are trying to pull out of this fight. They’re saying they’re not gonna fight now,” Fury said. He added that the conflict was fueled by Hearn’s ego, stating, “He’s making up a million different things and threatening ‘we’re not gonna fight, we’re not gonna fight, we’re not gonna fight’. He’s cost us the biggest fight in boxing history. Clown.”

Efforts to arrange a megafight between these two heavyweights have faced numerous setbacks in recent years. Notably, a planned trilogy bout between Fury and Deontay Wilder in 2021 was delayed due to arbitration when Wilder invoked contractual clauses despite Fury’s agreement to a Joshua fight.

As it stands, the future of the December matchup remains uncertain. Both camps have yet to release a comprehensive statement, leaving fans and stakeholders awaiting clarity on whether the fight will go ahead as planned.
