The Dallas Mavericks will feature JPMorganChase’s logo on their jerseys starting next season, following the announcement of a multiyear partnership between the NBA team and the New York-based banking firm. Chase will become the Mavericks’ official jersey patch sponsor and banking partner, replacing the green emblem of former sponsor Chime.
Chase’s blue and white octagon logo will be displayed on the upper left front strap of the Mavericks’ royal blue, navy, and silver uniforms. The new patch aligns closely with the team’s color scheme, a factor team CEO Rick Welts highlighted as a positive fit. Welts said the partnership was brokered through Creative Artists Agency, which also represents player Cooper Flagg and new head coach Dusty May.
Jersey patch sponsorships have been permitted in the NBA since the 2017-18 season. The Mavericks initially featured 5miles, a mobile marketplace app, before switching to Chime in 2020. The seven-year partnership with Chime concluded last month, creating the opportunity for Chase to present what Welts described as a “very aggressive” proposal for the limited advertising space.
Chase has an established presence in professional sports sponsorship, holding the naming rights to Chase Center, the Golden State Warriors’ arena in San Francisco, and maintaining partnerships with the Atlanta Hawks and the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. The financial firm’s logo is also displayed on the court of Madison Square Garden in New York.
Beyond the jersey patch, Chase branding will be integrated throughout the American Airlines Center. This includes a dedicated entrance on the arena’s east side exclusively for Chase cardholders. The partnership offers Chase customers ongoing benefits at Mavericks retail outlets and concessions during games and select events, as well as special game-day offers such as preferred seating, ticket promotions, merchandise discounts, and VIP experiences planned throughout the season.
The collaboration’s first benefit launched on Wednesday, with the initial 500 fans paying with Chase debit or credit cards who purchase a Mavericks jersey at the Victory Plaza Hangar store receiving a complimentary gift, while supplies last, through July 31.
Peter Muriungi, regional market leadership chair and CEO of digital assets and blockchain solutions at Chase, described the agreement as “an exciting new chapter” for the company’s involvement in Dallas. He noted the Mavericks’ standing as a prominent local franchise and emphasized Chase’s commitment to enhancing fan experiences and supporting community initiatives.
JPMorganChase employs approximately 17,500 individuals and operates nearly 200 branches throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, serving more than 2.9 million customers and nearly 290,000 small businesses.
