A court has sentenced three men to lengthy prison terms for the killings of two Australian brothers and their American companion during a 2024 surfing trip in Baja California, Mexico. Jake and Callum Robinson, both from Australia, along with their friend Carter Rhoad from the United States, were fatally shot in what authorities have described as a suspected robbery near Ensenada.
The victims were found in a cliffside well, each suffering gunshot wounds to the head. The incident occurred while the trio was traveling in the area for a surfing holiday. The investigation led to the arrest and prosecution of three suspects.
Jesus Gerardo, also known as "El Kekas," was identified as the alleged ringleader of the attack. Legal procedures prevented the release of his full surname. Two additional defendants, Irineo Francisco and Angel Jesus, were also convicted in connection with the murders.
All three men received identical sentences of 158 years and nine months in prison. The ruling marks the culmination of a case that drew significant attention both locally and internationally due to the victims’ nationalities and the violent nature of the crime. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to addressing violent crime in the region and ensuring justice for foreign nationals affected by such acts.
