A judge in Washington, D.C., has ruled in favor of the estate of attorney Robert Wone in a dispute over unpaid settlement payments related to his 2006 death. The case was heard last week in D.C. Superior Court and involved allegations that two men, Joseph Price and Victor Zaborsky, failed to fulfill their financial obligations under a wrongful-death settlement.

Robert Wone, 32, was found unresponsive at a home in the Dupont Circle neighborhood in 2006. No homicide charges have ever been filed in connection with his death. Three men who were present in the house at the time were acquitted of obstruction of justice charges. Subsequently, the Robert E. Wone Memorial Trust reached a settlement with the three men in a wrongful-death suit.

In May of this year, the estate initiated complaints alleging that Price and Zaborsky did not make required payments as agreed. During videoconference hearings last week, Judge Sherry Trafford ordered Zaborsky to pay a total of $22,245, which covers outstanding payments, late fees, and attorneys’ fees.

Price’s hearing was postponed to November 30 to allow additional time for the estate to notify him of the complaint. He reportedly stated that he was unaware of the allegations, which claim he owes $56,893.75. Neither Price nor Zaborsky could be reached for comment, and their current legal representatives have not been identified. An attorney for the Wone estate declined to comment on the ruling.

The case remains open as further proceedings are scheduled to address the claims against Price.
