Judicial Council Condemns Iranian Attacks on Kuwait

The statement released following the meeting, chaired by Supreme Judicial Council President and Court of Cassation President Counselor Dr. Adel Boursli, highlighted the judiciary’s commitment to protecting Kuwait’s national interests and safeguarding the nation’s achievements. The Council also extended prayers for the safety of Kuwaiti armed forces personnel and citizens on the front lines, expressed condolences to the families of martyrs, and wished a swift recovery for those injured.

In addition to addressing security concerns, the Council approved several administrative measures aimed at strengthening the judiciary’s capacity. These included the transfer of 14 counselors from the Court of Appeals to the Court of Cassation, effective October 1. The Council also reconstituted a five-member committee responsible for overseeing written examinations and interviews for candidates applying for junior legal researcher positions.

Applications for junior legal researcher roles, open to both male and female graduates from the 2025-2026 academic year, will be accepted from November 1 to November 30. Successful candidates will be appointed as Public Prosecutors (Category C). The Council further announced the planned transfer of several public prosecutors to serve as judges in the Court of First Instance starting October 1, following completion of training at the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies in September.

Several Court of First Instance judges and members of the Public Prosecution were also approved for promotion to higher ranks, effective July 5. Furthermore, the Council renewed the secondment of several judges to the Court of Cassation for an additional year beginning October 1.

The meeting reviewed observations and complaints identified during a recent inspection visit to the Hawally Governorate court complex conducted by court presidents. The Council mandated the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice to address these issues and work towards improving the quality of services provided to citizens, lawyers, and litigants.
